The 16th edition of the Veleziana will be held on October 15th: the only sailing event in the world that allows racers to reach the San Marco basin under full sail.
The Veleziana, a classic regatta organized by the Compagnia della Vela, runs along a route that starts from the sea in front of the Lido of Venice and ends in the lagoon in front of Piazza San Marco.
The spectacular aspect amplifies the strong link between the sport of sailing with Venice and its centrality in the nautical panorama of the Adriatic.
Sunday, October 15th, at 9:55 AM: Departure of the 16th edition of the Veleziana in the waters in front of San Nicoletto harbor entrance.
The fleet will follow the route that will take the boats inside the Venice lagoon along the port channel, passing in front of Fort S. Andrea, Sant’ Elena, and concluding the regatta at the finish line in Bacino San Marco in front of the island of San Giorgio. The time limit to finish the regatta has been set at 4:00 PM on Sunday.
The entire regatta can be watched from the shores, all along from Sant'Elena, to Riva degli Schiavoni, to San Marco.
