Data in nostro ducali palatio. Relations between Padua and Venice in the ducali of the Padua State Archives
Padua State Archive
Temporary exhibition.
As part of the celebrations to commemorate the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of Venice, the State Archives of Padua will be enhancing the series of ducali, direct evidence of the relationships between the Paduan peripheral magistracies of the mainland State and the central government bodies, through the digitization and publication of the chronological and alphabetical index for subjects of the ducali series on the institutional website; it is a valuable research tool that has already been made available to scholars in the study room. The term ducali means the letters containing the resolutions of the central Venetian government, issued in the name of the Doge in charge and addressed to the public representatives of the State. The series of ducali transmitted to the Paduan civic magistracies consists of a copy of 120 volumes, and is divided into sub-series corresponding to the offices to which the documents were directed. The series is complemented by 12 envelopes of parchment originals (1487-1797).
