EXTRAVAGANCE! or if Vivaldi had had two marimbas. A tribute to Venice; a city of a thousand musical colours.
Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello
TO CELEBRATE THE 1600 TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF VENICE, I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST PERFORMING A FEW PIECES OF MUSIC BY ANTONIO VIVALDI THAT HAVE BEEN TRANSCRIBED FOR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE. The music will be performed outdoors (Campo Pisani or music conservatory entrance) in a final Performance in September in the hope that concert activities can resume. Nevertheless, filming/recordings relating to the study will already begin in March with the participation of the whole class and of the students of the two-year percussion ensemble education course. Filming may be broadcast in streaming or in other ways through the music conservatory publishing and communication channels. The aim of the proposal is to introduce percussion ensembles and make them better know, along with the activities of our Conservatory’s. Vivaldi’s compositions will be associated or CONNECTED with authentic ethnic dances that are representative of the different populations and cultures that have always been present in the cosmopolitan city of Venice. The colours of the percussions will accompany the audience on a journey through ethnic melodies and baroque harmonies.
