Santa Maria della Vittoria or Tempio Votivo

Riviera Santa Maria Elisabetta
30126 Venezia VE

The votive temple was designed by Giuseppe Torres and U.V. Fantucci as a vow for safety during the I World War, but it was actually built between 1925 and 1938. The shape of the temple was inspired by Art Nouveau, and has a circular structure with a dome that lies on a windowed tambour. The crypt contains the remains of 2700 soldiers fallen during the war.
