Venice 1600. Meetings on the present and the future of the city
This event will be only in Italian language.
Among the initiatives of 'Venice 1600', Ateneo Veneto will be promoting a series of meetings on the present and the future of the city of Venice in the perspective of revaluating the social, economic and cultural history of the city, also seen as a ‘State’ model and a multi-ethnic centre. The meetings will be organized as follows (in person, remotely via YouTube, but also as visits to the area): 1. Venice before Venice (frescoes by Torcello, Altino excavations) (with the collaboration of Ca' Foscari University and with our cycle of archaeology); 2. The pictorial cycle of the Doge’s Palace with portraits of the doges (with the collaboration of the Civic Museums, Ca' Foscari University and the Veneto Institute); 3. Venice and foreign communities (the Armenian, Turkish, Greek, German, Albanian, Jewish communities and also the French, Swiss communities, etc.); 4. Venice and its hidden monuments (for example the Santa Maria del Pianto church, or buildings that are now the headquarters of institutions - the Guardia di Finanza, Assicurazioni Generali, the German Centre for Venetian Studies - or private buildings), (with the collaboration of FAI, that is, the Italian National Trust and other institutions); 5. Venice and the Scuole Grandi (in the past and nowadays); 6. Venice and today’s commercial business: glass (glass week); tourism (collaborations with hoteliers and tourist guide associations); craftsmanship (restoration); 7. From gymnastics to the development of modern sports: the fundamental contribution of Venice during the unification of Italy; 8. Ripensare la città con gli Antichi (Rethinking the city drawing on knowledge from the past.
