The image of Venice between reality and symbol

To celebrate the 1600th anniversary of Venice, the Gallerie dell'Accademia proposes one or several virtual itineraries/exhibitions within the collections focused on the real and symbolic representation of the city, alternating a selection of masterpieces that help to understand the architectural and urban planning evolution of the Venetian Republic - and the political choices underlying these transformations and images - but also the ability of civic and political self-representation through its symbols and allegories. In particular, the allegorical personification of Venice, with its multiple attributes, is familiar with transfigurations both in a religious and a symbolic key.

For the visitor it will be possible to undertake this path both during the vist to the museum and remotely visiting the museum's website.
