I Fiamminghi e Venezia

La nascita del Barocco di Anversa

Topics:
I Fiamminghi e Venezia is shown thematically in 10 rooms, bringing together some 80 paintings, drawings, engravings, statues, and Venetian and Antwerp glass made à la façon de Venise, mainly loaned by the Royal Museum of Fine Arts and the Rubens House in Antwerp, MUVE, The National Gallery in London, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and MNHA Luxembourg.
Three icons of Venetian painting return to their hometown Venice, namely Titian’s Jacopo Pesaro presentato a San Pietro da papa Alessandro VII and the altarpiece of the former San Geminiano church, covered by the press worldwide as “David Bowie’s Tintoretto”.
Titian’s Ritratto di gentildonna con la figlia from the Barbarigo collection (arguably Titian’s sweetheart Milia and their daughter Emilia) returns to La Serenissima for the first time in 500 years, now in its original state after removal of the overpaint in 2003.
In addition, the exhibition presents six major paintings and oil sketches by Rubens and the moving Lamentation over the Dead Christ by Van Dyck.
