Herbert Bauer 1935-1986. From the Stars to Earth
Transformations of Pictorial Reality
Herbert Bauer belongs to the important representatives of abstract painting. The Exhibition displays several drawings alongside the works in oil. The drawings in particular demonstrate the creative power and assurance of Bauer’s line, which becomes increasingly freer and unconstrained over the years. Many of the drawings are precursors of his major paintings. Almost all of the works have lyrical titles and descriptions. Bauer's diary entries describing the genesis of his paintings read like verses of a poem. Not for nothing is Bauer known as a painter-poet. The exhibition cites visual excerpts from Bauer's diaries. The exhibition is concerned with line, color and light, elements that even today make the work of Herbert Bauer unmistakable.
The exhibition ends saturday July 30th with a concert performed by Trio Sarti at 6.00pm.
