VE

The Museum of Torcello is divided into two sections: the Medieval and Modern section and the Archaeological section. The Palazzo del Consiglio, whose original construction dates back to 1300, holds the Medieval and Modern section, while the Palazzo dell'Archivio, the other building surviving in the square which dates to the 11th -12th century, plays host to the Archaeological section. Part of the marbles owned by the Museum are located in the arcade of Palazzo dell'Archivio and in the open area between the two buildings. The Archaeological section holds relics unearthed in the Veneto and in the lagoon area, as well as materials from other sources, including a series of Egyptian statues, covering the chronological period from the Palaeolithic Age to late Roman times.
