If you are close to Piazza San Marco, you should take the time to enter the former San Marco cinema and climb the wide central staircase to the top floor, which is now the headquarters of Louis Vuitton, where you will find a classy bookshop and the Espace Culturel: here, until March 31st, 2016 the valuable exhibition A TALE OF COSTUMES.
It is a dialogue between generations and different points of view which narrate, through three dresses, stories of epochs, people and different places during the Serenissima Republic of Venice: it is a silent, intense conversation between Andrienne (1770 – 1780), a late eighteenth century gown, from Palazzo Mocenigo collection - Center for the studies on textiles and costume history, finely restored with Louis Vuitton contribution; a paper dress realized by the Chinese artist Chen Movana and a dress designed and made by the students of the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in Rome, supervised by the Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti, twice nominated for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design... In short, a space and an exhibition not to be missed!
