The Feast of the Redeemer 2024
It is an occasion to remember the end of the terrible plague epidemic that struck Venice between 1575 and 1577. The Redeemer, the "most famous" night as Venetians colloquially call it, is an integral part of the customs of the lagoon city's inhabitants. They continue to renew, even today, the gastronomic traditions, folklore, and celebrations handed down by their ancestors, making this "very Venetian" festival internationally known and one of the city's greatest tourist attractions.
The event is part of the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death.
