Storie di Moda

 

"Storie di moda" is an exhibition on Venetian fashion, organized in collaboration with the Atelier Pietro Longhi. The current exhibition is housed in the eighteenth-century Sala Guarana, recently restored and open to the general public.

 

Fashion stories, tell the story of the School through eighteen mannequins, which represent the most significant historical passages of the association, whose history is closely linked to that of the city of Venice.

 

A precious collaboration with the Atelier Pietro Longhi, a company that research and ability has made its distinguishing mark and history in a new interpretation of the city's history.

To open the exhibition the dress of a crusader, to remember the foundation of the School occurred in 1261 and to follow, a lady of 1300, period in which Venice is the basis of its economic empire in the school acquires the precious relic of the True Cross ( donated in 1369). From the Middle Ages it then passed to the Renaissance, when Gentile Bellini represented in one of his paintings the Queen Caterina Cornaro, who witnessed one of the miracles of the True Cross.

 

Two dresses: one that reproduces the one worn by Regina Cornaro and one of a masculine style, which sums up the particular way of dressing young Venetians who abandoned gabardines and skirts to show off stockings and doublets. Twenty dresses by Francesco Briggi, between velvet and silk damask, gold and silver thread, ladies and knights painted by Veronese and Titian, tell the story of Venice, passing from Caterina Cornaro to Regina Margherita.
