Symbols and decoration of textiles in Japan

This exhibition represents the deepen link between venice and Japan: the exhibition illustrates a particular aspect of cultural and ethnographic history of Japanese artisans, with particular reference to the fabric of clothing. The exhibition, which takes place under the patronage of the General Consulate of Japan in Milan, represents a unique opportunity to admire the extraordinary outfits and printed fabrics of katazome technique, exposed along with katagami arrays used for this purpose, belonging to a period ranging from 800 to the early ' 900, the Edo and Meiji periods.
