Church of San Pietro Martire

Campiello Michieli Marco, 3
30141 Murano VE

The Church was built in 1348 in honor of St. John the Evangelist. After being destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt and rededicated to St. Peter Martyr in 1511. The structure is made of brick and has arches in the sides and Romanesque decorations. On the front there is also a Renaissance portal. It was stripped of furnishings and closed in 1808, but it was later rescued by the canon to the State Napoleonic Stefano Tosi, that decorated the Church with remarkable works of art from Murano. Inside it, you can admire the paintings by Paolo Veronese, Jacopo Tintoretto and Domenico and the Madonna Enthroned by Giovanni Bellini.
