Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore

The basilica is a Palladio project. Inside there are masterpieces by famous painters among which Jacopo Tintoretto (The Last Supper, Fall of Manna and The Deposition in the private chapel), Palma il Giovane, Jacopo and Leandro da Bassano. Besides the scenic view from the top of the bell tower there is a visit to the Sacresty, the Chapel of the Deposition and the Conclave Hall, where in March 1800 was elected Pope Pio VII. In the same Hall is possible to admire St. George Killing the dragon by Vittore Carpaccio. Every day at 7pm, at the chorus, you can attend the vespers prayer with the Benedictine monks.
The abbey also offers a welcome service for retreats and monastic experience sharing.
