49th International Theatre Festival
directed by Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte.
Blue, in all its nuances, will be the colour guiding the shows, encounters with the Masters and the activities of the Biennale College Teatro. “… Blue will be this 2021 Biennale Teatro: a reflection upon the awareness of a new beginning, upon setting sail on an artistic course towards Neverland to re-found, in this germinating expressive hotbed, a new cultural Renaissance that can return the Art of Theatre to the position it deserves, within Us, within the eternal magnificence of the divine” (ricci/forte).
The Festival will be inaugurated by Krzysztof Warlikowski, the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement with a new work for Italy: We are Leaving, “the finest mise-en-scène by Warlikowski in recent years” according to “Le Monde”.
Kornél Mundruczó with the Proton Theatre, Roberto Latini, Kae Tempest (Silver Lion), Thomas Ostermeier and Edouard Louis, Danio Manfredini, Francesco Pititto and Maria Federica Maestri of the Lenz Fondazione, Agrupación Señor Serrano, Filippo Andreatta and his Office for Human Theatre, Adrienn Hód, and Paolo Costantini are the artists featured in Venice.
