La Foresta Invisibile - Fabrice Hyber
From May 19 to January 7, 2024, Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia invites Fabrice Hyber to present his installation "La Foresta Invisibile."
The French artist Fabrice Hyber began producing artworks in the '80s, which immediately stood out in the art scene, before enrolling in scientific studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, France. By incorporating diverse fields such as mathematics, neuroscience, commerce, history, and astrophysics into his art, Hyber explores the boundaries between art and science. The emotions of love, the body, and nature are also at the center of the artist's work, with specific attention to trees and the color green. The practice of painting and drawing constitutes the starting point of the artist's creative process, presenting his ideas and inventing new figures that gradually come to life in his impactful works.
Invited by the Fondation Louis Vuitton and in conjunction with the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023, Fabrice Hyber creates "La Foresta Invisibile." Reflecting on the future ecological threats the world will face, Hyber has crafted an on-site installation where the artist brings back to life Venice's forgotten forest at the heart of Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia.
Reappearing as ancestral ghosts, tree trunks planted in the city's mud centuries ago stabilized the islands and contributed to the city's construction. Framing the exhibition space, which includes both a house and a clearing, spectral glass trees and celestial bodies form a monumental stained glass. Shadows dance and turn into light, making room for life and inviting the visitor to daydream in a crystallized forest, observing the city's history and its memory, contrasting with the challenges of modern times.
