BAROQUE CONCERT SEASON 2018

BAROQUE PASSION FROM SACRED TO SECULAR MUSIC

Venice Music Project takes you back in time to the era when Venice was a musical center of international prestige.
in addition to concerts by Venetia Antiqua, the resident orchestra, VMP also hosts prestigious ensembles from around the world, continuing the rediscovery of the great tradition of music in the Veneto, performed with original instruments and performance practices. Since 2016, the concerts are held at St. George’s Anglican Church, between the Accademia Bridge and Museum and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

In the Baroque period, famous stories and libretti were often set as operas by many different composers. As the kickoff of our “Hidden Treasures” series, Venice Music Project presents unpublished arias from one of the favorite stories, Semiramide, by several composers, in their first Italian performance in modern day.
