Church of San Giacomo di Rialto (San Giacometo)
Campo San Giacomo di Rialto
San Polo
30125 Venezia VE
The church of San Giacomo (better known as the Church of San Giacometo) is one of the oldest churches in Venice, whose foundation is probably linked to the birth of the Rialto market in 1097. It opens on Campo San Giacomo di Rialto, once the nucleus of commercial and financial activities of the city and is still home to the market. The original building still retains the arcade, as a frequent business in the early Venetian churches. The facade is tiled and has at its center a large clock built in the first half of the XV sec., above which, in a tabernacle, there's a Madonna with the Child.
