Giorgio Cini Foundation

Isola di San Giorgio - 30124 Venezia
VE

The Giorgio Cini Foundation was founded in 1951 on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore by Vittorio Cini, to commemorate his son Giorgio. After massive restoration works, the old Benedictine monastery became the setting of cultural, social and educational activities. Originally devoted to studying Venice history and Venetian civilization, over the past 50 years the Giorgio Cini Foundation expanded its activities and gradually became what it is today: a contemporary center of international research, with an active contribution of experts and scholars from all over the world. With eight Research Institutes devoted to Art History, History of the Venetian State and Society, Literature, Theatre and Opera, Venice and the East, Vivaldi, Music, Comparative Music Studies and Venice and Europe the Fondazione Giorgio Cini promotes exhibitions, conferences, seminars, classes and various publications.
