Lucio Fontana / Antony Gormley is an exhibition formed from an intimate conversation between artworks that look at the implications of light, space, and absence. A selection of drowings made by Lucio Fontana between 1946 an 1968, and a group of works on paper and workbooks covering many aspects of Antony Gormley's research, are integrated with sculptures by each of these artists.
In their two - and three- dimensional capacities, the works all "inhabit" space: It is possible for attention to shift from the object in space to the space itself, and the viewer can interact with the work and feel the void that surrounds it. Each work carries with it the trace of the reality of the moment in which the gesture, be it sculptural or graphic, releases the energetic tension that was contained in its very execution. The sign therefore, also becomes a recording of time.

The exhibition is considered a dialogue between the complexity of the sign in oeuvre of Fontana, as the founder of the spatialist movement, here represented by rarely seen sculptures, and the relationship between space and body in the work of Gormley, one of the most searching sculptors of our century, and it has a third element: the relation between artwork and exhibition space.

The curator of the exhibition, Luca Massimo Barbero and Antony Gormley have shaped the installation in relation and dialogue with Negozio Olivetti, connecting the artworks with the structures and the architecture realized by the great architect Carlo Scarpa in 1958.
