The Venice Hospitality Challenge, the sailing regatta brainchild of Mirko Sguario, is now in its 8th edition, and warmly welcomed by the finest hotels in Venice, was born to promote the tradition of maritime excellence of the Serenissima and relaunch the image of luxury tourism in the city.
On Saturday, October 16th, nine maxi yachts will challenge each other in a succession of tacks and marker turns between St. Mark’s Basin and the Giudecca Canal, creating a unique spectacle against the magical backdrop of St. Mark’s Square.
The race starts at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mark’s Basin and may be seen from the waterfront promenades with the best viewpoints at San Zaccaria and the Salute.
Each maxi yacht will bear the colours of a luxury hotel: Bauer Palazzo, Ca’ di Dio VRetreats, Ca’ Sagredo Hôtel, SINA Centurion Palace, Hôtel Cipriani, Hôtel Danieli a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hôtel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort, The Gritti Palace a Luxury Collection Hôtel Venice, Hilton Molino Stucky Venice, Hôtel Londra Palace, JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, Palazzina, The St. Regis Venice and Alajmo Ristorante Quadri. Moro di Venezia and New Zealand Endeavour Maxi Yachts will take part to the regatta and will represent the "Città di Venezia" and the Scuola Navale Militare “Francesco Morosini”.
