Leonardo e la sua grande scuola

Topics:
Palazzo Giustinian Lolin, headquarters of the Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation, in collaboration with the Venice 2000 Foundation hosts an important tribute to the genius of Leonardo Da Vincifrom 25 May to 25 August 2019, , on the occasion of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of his death: the exhibition “Leonardo and his great school ", curated by Nicola Barbatelli with other international scholars. With 25 works exhibited - of which two drawings attributed to the Tuscan genius - the project emphasizes not only the work of the great Master, but above all the extraordinary paintings of his followers - including Giampietrino, Marco d'Oggiono, Cesare da Sesto , Salaì, Bernardino Luini - and their dialogue with Leonardo's artistic poetry. "Leonardo and his great school" is presented as complementary to the exhibition scheduled at the nearby Gallerie dell'Accademia, entirely dedicated to the Genius of Leonardo, and is a unique opportunity to understand the extraordinary influence of the Master of the painting of his time. The exhibition is also the first of an international tour that will bring the works to China, at the end of the Venetian exhibition period. The Chinese tour of the exhibition will open at the CAFAM in Beijing on September 15th and will continue with stops in Shanghai and Shenzhen. The exhibition at Palazzo Giustinian Lolin offers visitors 25 works including the superb Maddalena discinta, the work that the great scholar Leonardo Pedretti had attributed to the collaboration between Leonardo and the pupil Giampietrino (today instead assigned to the collaboration between the genius of Vinci and the gifted pupil Marco d'Oggiono). In addition, two famous drawings attributed to Leonardo will be exhibited, such as the study by Testa di vecchio (rehearsed as a pupil) and a fragment for a thought for the lost Battle of Anghiari, once realized by the Master in the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, in Florence .
