From Poussin to Cézanne
Masterpieces of the French Drawing from the Prat Collection
During winter and spring 2017, an impressive exhibition of drawings from one of the most important private French collections reconfirms Museo Correr’s tradition of presenting to its public masterpieces on paper that form part of an exceptional collection of exquisite drawings in pencil, ink, watercolour, etc.
The completeness of the Prat Collection provides a comprehensive and diversified overview of French painting from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries – from Poussin to Cézanne, in fact – and includes work by David, Delacroix, Seurat and many others. Developed in collaboration with the Fondation Bemberg, Toulouse, and curated by Pierre Rosenberg, former director of the Louvre and the highest authority on French painting from this particular period, the exhibition has also enjoyed the support of the Alliance Française in Venice.
