New Work City

Venice Pavillon

In our contemporary existence, the ability to see coincides with the ability to know. If something appears absent from the vision, there probably remains an invisible and hidden presence that sees, listens and records. How can art surpass the assumption that we have seen everything, when temporalities are first experienced on a screen? The works, incorporating the concept of show, its voyeuristic aspect, besides the individualism that permeates them, can be observed by people from the outside of the pavilion. However, the intent is to exploit bodies in Alliance, that is, the principle that equality between individuals is not only written or spoken, but implemented just when bodies appear together in space.

The interior of the pavilion constitutes the body that encloses the city. This embodied experience is structured as a temporal exchange– between the public, the building, the work, the artists, the materials and the city– which starts when you enter the building and is transmitted by the materiality of the work.

When an individual experiences the urban fabric of the city of Venice and the multitude of narratives passing through it, he perceives them as a variety of interconnected spaces and ecosystems united by a non-linear continuity. The aimless wandering is a process that often evokes introspection and transforms the acceptance of our stories into an adaptive knowledge, which is collected and shared through artistic practices-collaborative curatorials that emerge in the space of the pavilion. Such collective practices do not address the public on an information level, but seek to feed the experiential aspect of the city, the organic and inorganic concepts that make up the city, in addition to the reciprocal exchanges that occur. Ultimately, the body cannot be limited to linguistics, and therefore the architectural aspect of the pavilion tries to involve visitors through the interweaving of the artists who discuss to get to the realization of a’single collective work, in reaction to their individual experiences of the city of Venice.
