Lost in Venice, disguidi veneziani
Lostin Venice isanexhibit by students of the Graduate Degree Programme in Visual Arts at the Università Iuav University of Venice and will conclude the educational workshop programme organised by Angela Vettese and Marco Bertozzi.
Whatdo modern-day tourists visit in Venice? Open one of the guidebookspublished between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and compareit with the tourist publications from the twentieth and twenty-firstcenturies, and what jumps off the page is the overlapping advice onsightseeing:the Doge's Palace and Saint Mark's Basilica, the Rialto Bridgeand the haberdashery shops (the Mercerie), a watery stroll along theGrand Canal, Renaissance paintings, and a coffee in Saint Mark'sSquare. These are by and large the destinations in a city that hasnever had to work hard to attract visitors.
