Los Caminos del Cafè - Cuba. An Heritage for the future

In Santiago de Cuba, there is a unique world heritage registres by UNESCO: the coffee plantations from the late 19th century. These ruins were the starting point for the project "Los Caminos del Café" which was developed by the Oficina del Conservador de la Ciudad de Santiago de Cuba and the Malongo corporate foundation with a financial contribution by the European Union. Using videos and documents explaining the evolution of the project, we intend to highlight how the development of a so important cultural project, especially in a such period of transformations for Cuba, is benefit to a territory and a population but also finds a resonance with our European reality.
On the sideline of the Architecture Biennial, we wished to make, in a simple and informative way, an honest presentation of the project actions, to get people interested in it and to arouse their curiosity about this unknown heritage of Cuba island, off the beaten tracks.
