The Lazzaretto Vecchio (Lit. The Island of the Old Quarantine) served as the first example of an isolation hospital for persons who had been confirmed sick. Later, in the mid-19thcent. was a military garrison until 1960s. It will become a museum center, after a complex restoration and conversion project.
Special opening hours: morning 10-13 am, afternoon 03-06 pm, only with guided tour. (Continuous ferry service to/from the Venice Lido – Riva Corinto, thanks to the new jetty. How to reach it ).
The tour winds through internal and external environments and takes about an hour. It is not otherwise possible to stay on the island and at the entrance. A donation to support the project activities is requested.
Please note: The groups leave in batches, there is no time fixed for the beginning of each visit because it depends on the turnout.
