"To Friends and to the City". The Museum of Palazzo Grimani for the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of Venice. The celebrations for the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Venice, and therefore of its history and culture that have developed over the centuries, push us to think about the material and immaterial relationship that Palazzo Grimani di Santa Maria Formosa has always had with the city and to strengthen its bond with the lagoon area. The setup of the Sala del Doge Antonio with dozens of ancient and modern sculptures, in addition to the work already carried out in the famous Tribuna, will be the start of a long journey of knowledge made up of relations with the history of Venice. The Museum of Palazzo Grimani will therefore offer a rich and varied calendar of initiatives starting on March 25, 2021 and ending on March 24, 2022. During this period of time, the halls of the Palazzo will be the protagonists of the story throughout the several weeks entirely dedicated to their enhancement. Starting from the structure of the Visitor's Guide, currently being printed, which derives from an in-depth reflection on how to visit the Palace and the relationship with its architectural and historical-artistic emergencies, a whole series of contents will be proposed through different forms of communication, dissemination and heritage education. The ideal itinerary, which starts with the entrance portal and ends with the monumental staircase, unfolds over the weeks through the inclusion in both the physical and digital tour many large and small pieces of content with which the spaces of the building will be related to other places in the city and the lagoon, the history of the palace and the Grimani family with that of Venice, the decorations and collections with the historical-artistic heritage of the lagoon, through similarities and clashes, but also enhancing the aspect that these same places have had over the course of the last century.
