The church was founded in 967 and from the very beginning was dedicated to the prophet San Simeone. To distinguish it from the near church dedicated to the same prophet, it was added the title "Grande" (big). In the centuries it was restored many times, the most important in XVIII Century by Domenico Margotti who changed completely the church's appearance. The facade, in neoclassical style, was built in 1861. Inside, three naves divided by Corinthian columns are enriched with paintings by Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane and Corona, and sculptures from XIV and XV Century.
