Church of San Salvador
The church is located in the district of San Marco, just minutes from the Rialto bridge between Campo San Salvador and the entrance to the Mercerie. It dates back to the 7th-century and has legendary origins. Jesus Christ is said to have appeared in a dream to Bishop St. Magnus, to direct him to the place where he was to build - in the centre the future city of Venice - a church to dedicate to his name, Saviour of the world (in Italian, Salvatore).
