81st Venice International Film Festival

Actress Isabelle Huppert will be the president of the International Jury of the Competition, which will assign the Golden Lion for Best Film, as well as other official awards. 
 

This year the Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement were awarded to the Australian director and screenwriter Peter Weir, the first Australian director in 2022 to receive an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement and a fundamental figure in the New Wave of 1970s Australian cinema, and to the American actress Sigourney Weaver, a three-time Oscar nominee and winner of a BAFTA and a Golden Globe, who created a series of memorable characters, both dramatic and comedic.
 

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, directed by singular creative visionary Tim Burton is the Opening Film, Out of Competition, of the Film Festival. After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
 

It is also scheduled the 2024 Venice Immersive edition, entirely dedicated to immersive media, including all means of creative expression Reality. Venice Immersive will take place on the island of Lazzaretto Vecchio, which can be accessed via a digital accreditation intended for an adult audience.
